Christine Duncan

Known for her vocal abilities, Christine Duncan is recognized as one of the most versatile vocal instrument in Canada. The Element Choir she leads from Toronto produces work with such a fascinating sound where they use both structured and non-structured elements. they are mostly based on a system of conduction cues.  Most of her creations come from her involvement in jazz, gospel, improvised music, sound poetry and (one of my favourites) R&B. Due to her variety of styles, a listener may experience rhythmic patterns, sound poetry, composition ideas, voice techniques and timbral sound qualities while listening to her pieces.

When she was younger, she began learning about sound. When she was five she began performing with her family in gospel shows and at age fifteen she recorded her first album. her early stages of life led her to become a stronger artist. By using her voice as an instrument to create many different sounds, it is apparent that she is a veryyyy talented artist. Though she is a distinctive artist, she shares similarities with every other artist and that is the love of art and sound. The way she uses her voice as an instrument is what separates her from every other artist because she is able to create sounds that are poetic, rhythmic, and extremely creative.

I would like to listen to her work and find out more about her specifically as an artist. But to be quite honest, I’m not sure if I would actually ENJOY her stuff, but hey … we’ll see
